The official currency of Trinidad and Tobago is the dollar. In order to distinguish it from other currencies denominated in dollars, it is typically abbreviated with the dollar sign $ or, alternatively, TT$. Each penny is divided into one hundred. To distinguish cents from other currencies that employ cents, the word "cents" is abbreviated with the cent sign C/ or TTC/. The Trinidadian dollar and the Tobagonian dollar were its forerunners.
