South Sudanese pound
The Republic of South Sudan uses the pound as its official currency. There are 100 piasters in it. It was passed by the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly before to the country's separation from Sudan on July 9, 2011. The Sudanese pound was replaced by it at par on July 18, 2011. South Sudan's use of the Sudanese pound as legal money ended on September 1, 2011.
South Sudan declared on October 8, 2020 that it would soon alter its currency as a result of the sharp decline in the South Sudanese pound's value relative to the US dollar.
