Mexico's official currency is the peso. Modern peso and dollar currencies share a common ancestor with the Spanish dollar of the 16th to 19th centuries, and most still use its sign, "$". Before the 1993 revaluation, the peso's ISO 4217 code was MXP; it is currently MXN. One peso is divided into one hundred centavos, denoted by the symbol "C/". The Mexican peso is the third-most traded currency in the Americas, third-most traded in Latin America, and the fifteenth-most traded currency overall. The peso was at $20.50 per euro, $19.80 per US dollar, and $15.50 per Canadian dollar as of August 16, 2022.
