Chilean Peso
Chile uses the peso as its currency. The old peso, which was in use between 1817 and 1960, replaced the present one in 1975. Its symbol is a S with one or two vertical bars overlaid before the dollar sign ($ or); the single-bar symbol, which is accessible in the majority of contemporary text systems, is nearly always used. Both of these abbreviations, such as CLP$ or US$, are used by a variety of currencies, most notably the United States dollar. The current peso's ISO 4217 code is CLP. Until the subdivision was abolished in 1984 due to its poor value, it was formally divided into 100 centavos. As of March 2021, the exchange rate was roughly CLP$730 to $1 USD.
