The boliviano is the currency of Bolivia. In Spanish, it is divided into 100 centavos. Between 1864 to 1963, Bolivia's currency was known as the boliviano. The new family of banknotes for the Plurinational State of Bolivia was announced by Pablo Ramos, manager of the Central Bank of Bolivia, beginning in April 2018. The introduction began with the 10 bolivar note and progressed progressively until the 200 bolivar note was introduced in April 2019. The new family of banknotes issued by the Plurinational State won several accolades, including "the best banknotes in Latin America." These accolades were given in recognition of the security features, appealing design, and inclusion of notable figures from Bolivian history. These accolades were given at the "Latin American High Security Printing Press Conference."
